Support the Clean Energy Jobs Act By Submitting a Letter to the Editor in Your Local Paper

You can take action on this alert by reading the information below and following the directions at the bottom.

Issue

Help Us Demonstrate Broad Support

Background

Last week Governor Doyle and state legislative leaders introduced the Clean Energy Jobs Act. Included in the bill are policies that require 25% of our energy to come from renewable resources by 2025, major investments in energy efficiency and substantial increases in the fuel efficiency of our vehicles. These policies will reduce global warming pollution, create jobs, save consumers money on electric bills and will help reduce Wisconsin’s dependence on dirty fossil fuels.

In order to ensure to convince our politicians to support this bill we will need to demonstrate broad public support for clean energy policies. One of the best ways to show public support is to submit letters to the editor in your local papers. Please submit the letter below (editting it is even better)!

PLEASE BE SURE TO INCLUDE YOUR PHONE NUMBER IN YOUR EMAIL! Newspapers will not print your letter if they cannot call to confirm that you sent the letter.

Support Clean Energy Legislation

I was pleased to see Governor Doyle and state legislators moving forward with policies that will help promote the use of renewable energy (the Clean Energy Jobs Act.) Promoting renewable energy is a win-win for our environment and economy.

We currently spend way too much money importing fossil fuels to meet our energy needs. We spend billions of dollars every year importing coal, oil and natural gas to power our homes, businesses and vehicles. This means that the money leaves our state and the pollution stays.
We need to move as quickly a possible to begin harnessing more of our homegrown, renewable resources to meet our energy needs. Wisconsin has an abundance of wind, solar and bio-energy resources here, but we need legislation like this to send the message that Wisconsin is truly open for business to renewable energy producers.

Passing this bill should be a priority for state leaders. Our environment and economy can't afford to continue with the status quo.
